Villa Maria Wine - Everything You Wanted to Know About New Zealand's Premier Winemaker

The Villa maria Estate is actually the home of New Zealand's Villa Maria wine which was originally founded by George Fistonich in 1961. Mr. Fistonich still owns Villa maria wine and its vineyards located in Marlborough, Gisbrone, Auckland, and Hawke's Bay. Over the years this company has managed to make quite a name for itself in the wine industry. The biggest attribute is its quality and its unique and distinct taste as well as state of the art wine producing methods.

The Villa maria wine yard is 100% owned by a family and founded in the early part of 1961 by the famous George Fistonich. Through hard work and dedication George managed to lead the brand to the heights of prosperity by winning the Award for Most awarded winemaker. New Zealand recognized George's part and the part his company plays in producing top notch wine. Villa Maria was the first wine company to actually go out and employ professional and well qualified viticulturalists.

This further improved the quality and standing of the already established name in the wine industry.

The vineyard is still strongly run and influenced by George who is dedicated and strives to get the best sites for his vineyards and then get experts to manage them wisely. The good thing about the brand is that winemakers get to add in their own artistic feeling and flair to the wine they produce. It is this hard work, dedication and attention to quality that has let five of Villa maria's most senior wine makers including George him self to receive the prestigious award of winemaker of the year.

In addition to many of the trophies that Villa maria wine has received for wines made individually also include the famous and latest 'World Wine Producer' award which was awarded by famous American wine writer named Michael Franz. The wines are both produced as well as bottled at both the companies well designed and constructed wineries in both Marlborough and Auckland. Now in addition to hosting both international and local guests the winery at Auckland also serves as a venue for concerts which hosted Simply Red in February of 2009. It also hosted the Auckland philharmonic Orchestra along with a host of other well known bands of New Zealand.

Many if not all of Villa Maria's top wines are either labeled Reserve or they are labeled Single Vineyard. However you should also check out the more widely sold and available cellar selection which offers great quality and stunting value. Another good thing to try out is the forth tier wines and besides the term bin being used they are produced in large quantity and are attractively priced.

The Villa Maria wine is known as one of the best in the word and probably the best wine company in New Zealand. It's definitely worth trying out since its available at various price tiers making it an attractive proposition.
